Despite his apparent Buster lean, Oberon is largely a superior alternative to Waver and Reines, packing 70% total battery to an ally, strong card-type-neutral steroids, and a powerful control NP. It may come as a surprise to get another meta support just a week after Koyanskaya, but Oberon largely delivers on his potential. Hopefully our next Pretender will show up before too long and clarify the matter.īut the matter at hand here is Oberon himself. That said, Oberon is currently our only Pretender, and given the class concept I could see stats like star gen and star weight varying on a Servant-by-Servant basis. In terms of internals, Pretenders appear to be functionally the same as Sabers, but with Assassin-esque star gen. They have standard interactions with Berserkers, and they’re fully neutral to Rulers, Avengers, and Moon Cancers, which makes them a decent option for use against Rulers specifically if you don’t have a strong Avenger ready to go. They’re also defensively neutral to both groups. Furthermore, Pretenders are effectively inverted Alter Egos, gaining half offensive class advantage (1.5 times normal damage, like Berserkers) against Sabers, Archers, and Lancers, while having offensive class disadvantage against Riders, Casters, and Assassins.

Foreigners have full class advantage against Pretenders, who have class advantage against Alter Egos (who, as always, have class advantage against Foreigners). It’s been well over three years since our last new class debut-Foreigners, with Salem-and the Pretender class fills out our second extra class trinity.

After months of speculation and anticipation, the king of the fairies finally makes his playable debut, and in a brand-new class no less.
